Editorial Design and Illustration for Energiespektrum
Project duration: November 2018 – February 2020
Graphics, layouts, and illustrations for the magazine “Energiespektrum”
From November 2018 to February 2020, MWIMMERDESIGN created illustrations and layouts on the topic of energy for the trade journal “Energiespektrum,” ranging from cover art to fact checks.

Client and Project
The client is Henrich Publikationen GmbH in Gilching, a company with 100 to 500 employees operating in the energy sector. For 33 years, Energiespektrum, an established trade magazine, has been supporting the energy industry by providing expert information on current topics; the energy transition is not only broadening the range of necessary information but also increasing the need to present it in a concise and up-to-date manner.
MWIMMERDESIGN was tasked with creating illustrations that explore current topics in the energy sector for Energiespektrum’s cover stories and fact-check sections. The collaboration ran from November 2018 to February 2020.
Strategy
A distinctive visual style was developed that complements the magazine’s existing design.
Implementation
Each issue featured a two-page fact-check section on a topic such as grid expansion, renewable energy, or digitalization; all necessary illustrations and infographics were created for this purpose.
Depending on the needs, the front-page layout and the accompanying graphic for the lead story were also included.
The following were delivered:
Topics covered by the fact-check illustrations include energy grids, sector coupling, carbon footprint, supply planning, IT security, renewable energy, electric mobility, data security, and the expansion of wind energy in Bavaria, as well as several magazine cover graphics (such as those on hydropower, wind energy, and smart metering).
