Of Volume and Difference in Case Size
The game gives an insight into the diversity of styles, characters and types in a playful manner. A significant number of our visual impressions on a day-to-day basis are determined by typography. It is an important means of transferring information in almost all areas of life, just as it is an integral element in the area of business communication. Skilful manipulation of typography is a prerequisite for high-level, well-founded graphic design.
The quartet is classically simple. It concentrates on the particular characteristics of the individual types. The top section of each card is individually organised, and the info block is clear and well laid out. The Typographic Quartet was published in 2003 by Herrmann Schmidt. It was accorded a tribute at the 2004 Design Award of Rheinland Pfalz and was nominated for the 2007 Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany.
